Chinese origins of "Hata" in Japan
- The Hata clan was an immigrant clan active in Japan since the Yamato period,
according to the epic history Nihonshoki. - Hata is the Japanese reading of the Chinese (state and dynasty) name given to the
Qin Dynasty (the real family name was Ying), and given to their descendants
established in Japan. - The Nihonshoki presents the Hata as a clan or house, and not as a tribe; also only
the members of the head family had the right to use the name of Hata.

Mr. Denney was introduced and accepted to study with Sifu Hata in 1992. At
that time, San Shen Tan Tien(SSTT) was a "closed door" class and system. The
only way a person would even know of the art's existence was through referral
and personal invitation. After several years of intense study under Sifu Hata's
direct mentoring and 16 years guided training, Mr. Denney at this time has been
accepted with the title of Instructor to SSTT . As a result of his studies in the
SSTT system, Mr. Denney began investigating other energetic disciplines in
search of "Root" energy sciences. These other studies included traditional
Taoist meditation, Chi Kung, Kundalini Yoga, Hindu mysticism, and African
Shamanism. What Sifu Hata found was that SSTT energetic principles could be
applied to ANY system. However; Mr. Denney finally realized that the shortest
path to energetic mastery was to focus primarily on SSTT. "The amazing thing
about SSTT is that you can apply these principles to anything and it will give you
the ability to develop and master it very quickly. SSTT gives you the ability to
intuitively FEEL the energy of any system and IMPROVE it!" Mr. Denney lives in
Boise, ID where he teaches SSTT, West African Shamanic drumming and
Kundalini Yoga.

Originally from the Boston area, David has studied under Dr. Hata since 2002.
He has a deep interest and appreciation for martial arts and especially
cultivating internal energy. He lives in the Los Angeles area and is also involved
in the local film making community.
